Welcome to my cozy corner of the world and thank you for dropping in.
I invite you to sit with me for a moment and picture an old stone fireplace set in a log cabin in the quiet of giant pines. Out the window, a few big white flakes are falling, but the inside invites you to serenity.
I’d love to have you join me in overstuffed chairs as we sit together in front of a crackling fire, watching the flames of the fire do their dance. Do you like your hot chocolate with cream on top? That’s my favorite winter treat… cocoa topped with a swirl of whipped cream.
Together we’ll share about the things we’re learning, the heartaches we’re experiencing and the blessings God is mercifully bestowing upon us as we travel this journey of life.
This path we’re on isn’t meant to be walked alone. It’s meant to be journeyed with friends. Together we will get to know our Heavenly Father, the One who leads the way. As we share our experiences, our longings, our “aha moments,” we will grow together and we will grow in awe of our Maker and His Son, Jesus. Join me!
This website is an expression of my life. My story is one of triumphs and heartaches, travailing prayer and the sweet, sweet, blessings of answered prayer from a loving, merciful God.
As a wife and mother of five, I’ve seen God answer many of my prayers over the years – some of which would never have come to be, had I not been engaged in effectual, fervent prayer. Through the years I’ve had many heartaches, but I’ve chosen to allow those trials to deepen my relationship with my Lord. I’ve learned much about prevailing prayer – prayer that gets an answer – and I want to share this with you so that you too, can experience answers to your prayers.
As I’ve homeschooled my children, I’ve seen God at work. When they were small, I taught them to look for God’s blessings even in the littlest things. One of my children keeps a “thankful journal” where he writes down four special gifts and blessings from God, every day.
When we become more conscience of God’s gifts, it helps us to appreciate His love and goodness in our lives which can change our attitude in a positive way.
I believe that children are some of God’s sweetest blessings in our lives. Their purity, trust and sense of wonder remind us of God’s desire for those who follow Him. I am so in love with children that I became a Pregnancy Consultant to help others welcome their own bundle of God’s flesh-wrapped love into their lives.
Over the years, God has given me the special blessing of friends to sit with and drink cocoa by the fire (figuratively speaking, of course!).
When I had my first two children, I prayed that God would bring a Godly mother who had many children, into my life. Someone who could mentor me in my relationship with Christ and who could also encourage me in my role as wife and mother. God heard that prayer and gave me a Christian mother of seven who taught me many things, particularly how to nurture my children in the Lord.
As I grew in my relationship with Christ, I was then given the honor of being an encourager to many special ladies in their quest to be better wives, more attentive mothers, and faithful followers of Jesus. Ahhh… those “fireside chats” have always been precious to me.
Another answer to my prayers for growth came in the person of Zac Poonen. His teachings have significantly impacted my relationship with the Lord and God used this humble man to bless our family in a very special, unexpected, way.
God has worked in my life through people that He has allowed me to spend time with, but also through the writings of others. I love studying the life of George Müller. This man was prompted to start an orphanage, and as that orphanage grew, he prayed and believed God to provide everything he needed to support over 10,000 orphans. By prayer alone, God provided all of his needs for the children and his other ministries. Mr. Müller never asked a single person for anything. His example of prayer according to God’s will is very inspiring and something I long to experience more and more in my own life.
If there’s one thing that I would share with you today, in the intimacy of this space (remember our fireside chat?), it’s the fact that God loves you as much as He loved Jesus. (John 17:23) You are as special to Him as His only Son. If you have a child, think about the love you have for him or her. That is just a hint of how much God loves you.
If you’re thinking, “God hasn’t blessed me very much.” I want to assure you that God IS blessing you with many gifts. You just need to learn how to see them and I’m going to show you how to recognize those blessings each and every day.
It is my prayer that God will give you a deep desire to love and serve Him with all your heart, in every area of your life.
Please join me on this journey. Together let’s expectantly wait on God, trusting His work in our lives as we bless the lives of those around us.
Before we leave our “fireside chat” I have a special video to share with you. After you watch it, feel free to leave a comment letting me know you were here. I promise I’ll read it, my “fireside” friend.
Hi Kathryn!
I’m so glad I’ve reached this page where I was able to know you more and witness God’s amazing power through your life. I’m excited to know more of our Lord Jesus Christ and His love through your page.
One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are, is one great inspiration to those who’ll be able to watch this. Thank you for sharing the video to us. I’ve realized that no matter what situation we are all in, there’s always something to be thankful for, even in just small things.
May God’s grace and love be with you and your family always.
All the best,
Kriziela
Hi Kathryn,
This is one great website I have had ever seen. Watching the video made me cry and realized that I have but one life to live. A holy, ordinary, amazing grace, a gift is a complete description of what life should be.
The manifestation of God is clear and distinct on your writings and it depicts the intervention of God in every chapter of your life. God seems to be absent because we cannot see Him but He makes himself available through the Holy Spirit and physically through man’s goodness.
One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are is an awakening tool to give thanks to God for all He has given, for all He is giving and for all He would still give. Life, indeed, is a gift because God has given everything to me.
Share God’s blessings. He has blessed you to be a blessing to everyone!
One with Christ,
Alvin
Truly this video touched my heart and made me realize that i should always count more on my blessings and not on the things i want that i do not have. God is good and truly God loves me as much as he loves all of us.

Hi Kathryn, We share a love for and appreciation for the life of George Mueller! You might really love the book I published that took Mueller’s writings and paraphrased them so that it makes clear sense to Today’s readers. Simple Prayers, Simple Trust is divided into 13 short chapters, and includes discussion questions, making it also perfect for small group study. http://www.amazon.com/Simple-Trust-Prayers-Life-Changing-Journals/dp/1616382759/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1407424632&sr=1-1&keywords=cindy+mallin
Hi Cindy,
Thank you for letting me know about the Simple Prayers, Simple Trust book. I look forward to reading it and posting a book review. I continue to strive for “George Müller size faith”. What an inspiration to us all! Never asking anyone for money or resources, but depending upon God alone. Jesus said, You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” Matthew 21:22 ~ Ask, Believe, Receive ~
Blessings,
Kathryn Alyson
Hi Kathryn, I love the way you are stretching to grow in your faith journey. May God bless you! I know you will grow from reading this little book too… http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1616382759/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1616382759&linkCode=as2&tag=birtcom-20&linkId=JBQWFYE4ZLT4WGOL
Hello, Kathryn.
I saw your post on oDesk and I immediately responded to it. I meant to apply for a job, but God definitely meant it for something greater.
I am currently going through a spiritual ebb… a wilderness experience, as my best friend describes it. God has answered my desperate seeking by leading me to this “fireside chat.” You do not know me, but you have been used by God to bless me today. Thank you. And thank God! May the Lord be continually honored and magnified in you and through you. Keep on keeping on…
Thank you for your video, Kathryn. It reminds me that I need to not be in such a rush from day to day. I need to sit back and revel in the precious and tender moments with my children that I have been blessed with. God, with His tender mercies, has given us these beautiful moments, and He expects us to learn from them, to grow from them, and to increase in love and knowledge because of them. I need this reminder a lot! Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts in such a beautiful video.
Hi Kathryn,
The video is so beautiful. Thank you for giving me hope that God will keep his promise. May God continue to bless you. Keep me in prayer. God knows why he led me here. 🙂 Peace and love be upon you.
Thank You,
Vicky <3
Hello Kathryn
I enjoy your writings. Did you realize there is a block on the organic church on a napkin?
that says it is a private viewing.
I need all the info I can get about starting a house church. As I viewed the Series 1-6, I was unable to get the contact information the video was rolling too fast. Please send me the contacts and access to view the organic church.
Thank you & keep up the great work!
Hi Charla,
Thank you for letting me know that the Organic Church on a Napkin video was not working. I have updated that post and the video is now available for viewing. I also added some resources on house church / organic church and opened up discussion if anyone has any questions. I have a number of resources to share and I greatly support simple church and house church fellowships. I’ve been doing a form of organic church/simple church for over 20 years and it is wonderful!
Thank You! That truly was beautiful video, what a lovely gift you gave me. 🙂
I love your story, we all can learn from it. It was truly a blessing for me, will be sharing your post with a friend. Thank you.
Am so glad that I visited your coner it has made me think how Gods promises for my is yes and amen ,knowing no matter what I go through in my life he will see me through it .thank you very much I will treasure every word..
Hello Kathryn,
I’m grateful I found your website through a Google search on the courts of heaven. I read your post on Robert Hendersons material on his resources. I purchased them and has been life changing for me. Thank you for posting the information.
I also read where you applied the principles he taught on operating in the courts of heaven and how God brought your daughter home. You said in your post…
“Our daughter returned home 9 months later due to circumstances I never thought would happen. While Satan had every right to accuse her and try to steel, kill and destroy every good and precious thing God wanted for my daughter, I was able to stand in the gap, and then God was legally able to bring His will to earth, for my daughter.”
I am also standing in the gap for my 19 year old daughter who left home December 2015. My question to you is, how did God finally bring your daughter home? You said it was through circumstances that you never thought would happen. Could you share a little more insight on the miracle God did for you? It would greatly encourage me as a mother of a Prodigal daughter yet to return home.
Thank you and God bless you!
AM BLEST TO HEAR WHAT THE LORD IS DOING IN YOUR LIFE
